DESCRIPTION
Gem 1864 Indian Head Cent in Copper-NickelCAC Approved1864 Indian Head Cent. Copper-Nickel. MS-65 (PCGS). CAC.Lightly reflective fields surround the boldly pronounce design elements across this handsome Copper-Nickel Gem. Die cracks can be found snaking through select peripheral elements, though evidence of wear is notably absent. A thoroughly attractive and technically superior specimen.
After only the 1861, the 1864 is the scarcest circulation strike Indian cent of the copper-nickel, Oak Wreath with Shield type. Additionally, most survivors from a mintage of 13,740,000 pieces are poorly struck or otherwise unappealing. This is an uncommonly well preserved example that will please the discerning Indian cent enthusiast.
